The use of Smartphones has increased humungously from its birth to now. This growth of smartphones is now turning in a battlefield between different operating systems. This data given in the chart below, stands true as of February, 2015, when the given statistics were analysed. In U.S.A, during 2013 and 2014 only two softwares seem to be ruling. iOS has definitely grown from 2013 to 2014 and yet in 2014 both of these operating systems are on the same level. According to Techcrunch’s report on ‘Android Breaks 1B Mark For 2014, 81% Of All 1.3B Smartphones Shipped’, “ Compared to 2013, Android’s percentage of total sales, according to Strategy Analytics, was up by three percentage points, while Apple’s declined by half a percentage point.” Techcrunch used the following chart to explain the importance of Android in the market. A survey from Urban Airship says that Android users’ response to pop-ups and notifications is more than the response given to iOS. Urban Airship said “response rates are likely higher on Android due to the way Google's operating system handles incoming push notifications. On Android, notifications remain on the lock screen until dismissed, and are subsequently moved to the Notification Status bar once the device is unlocked.”
There will always be contradictions between different analysis due to research methods used and the time and place at which the research was conducted. However, the one point stressed over and over again here is that it is not a clean sweep for iOS apps; Android apps are giving a very tough competition from all angles. Here are some reasons why Android is not going out of people’s minds and hearts
The usage competition may be on and always on. But would always believe that target audience is the best way to choose an approach for selecting a device and overall develop an app for android and iOS both would be defiantly beneficial. We have discussed the app ideas with more than 500 clients now and we give their idea to life and adding value to their product. Our belief is “making a difference in people’s life by creating an apps which solves real life problems” rather than “making an app where we (ourselves) are not proud of the app created”. Let's talk and discuss the possibilities to make your app unique.
